New Roller Skate Rink Coming to 30 Rock

Preparations for the newest roller skating rink in the Big Apple

For those who live in New York City, everyone knows that the Midtown area is the area to avoid, due to the existence of so many tourist attractions. For roller skating fans this reality is about to change.
Starting April 15th, Flipper’s Roller Boogie Pallace will open for the season, where it was until Sunday, March 20th, the traditional ice skating rink, which ended its winter season.
It’s been more than 80 years since Rockefeller Plaza received such a space. The project is brought to the Big Apple by the creators of the iconic Flipper’s skating rink in West Hollywood, opened in 1979 by Flipper Ross. In its hey days, it hosted celebrities in the likes of Jane Fonda, Jean-Michael Basquiat and teenager Laura Dern. It featured murals of John Kosh, the famous designer responsible for the Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover.
The New York version is brought by Ross’ daughter, Liberty Ross. In addition to the rink, which will be smaller than the ice skating rink, it will also feature small events, such as DJ performances and live music, as well as opportunities for shops and restaurants.
Tickets, which are already on sale on the website, range from $20 without skateboard rental to $30 with rental. Children pay $22 with rent, $12 without.
