Brasil Summer Fest Is Returning in 2021

After its 2020 cancelation due to the coronavirus crisis, the Brazil Summer Fest will return in 2021. Instead of the typical two-week event, however, the festival will only take place on the 9th and 10th of July.

The Brasil Summer Fest, which promotes Brazilian culture in New York’s summers, featuring art, film, music and cuisine, will be leaner this year.

Dumbo Archway will host the performances of Luan Barbosa’s Roda de Samba on Friday, July 9th, and Livia Nestrovski & Fred Ferreira on Saturday, July 10th.

“This is the second time we perform at Brasil Summerfest, an important festival that makes it possible for a new generation of artists in Brazil to bring forth contemporary popular music. It is an opportunity for artists and general public to also interact through music that is broader than stereotyped culture from Brazil,” declared Livia and Fred in a statement to AcheiUSA.

The festival will also feature DJ Greg Caz, Batalá NY, the first group of drummers composed only by women, and the group Forrobodó.

The visual arts will also be represented by artists Alice Quaresma and Chiara Banfi. Their works will be projected on the walls of the Manhattan Bridge during the musical performances, curated by Gisela Gueiros.
